EQUIPOISE

My challenge was to create an engineered design on a knit garment of my choice. For my design, I was inspired by a variety of animal prints, particularly zebra stripes. Each zebra is complex in an individual way, and I was inspired by how their patterns are balanced, however, not perfectly symmetrical. My goal was to create a balanced, asymmetrical design with the use of my own deconstructed zebra stripe motifs. I used individual motifs to create larger shapes and stylelines that are balanced on each side of the garment. At the bottom of the page, I have included a texture-mapped image of my design on a sweater from cosstores.com that I used as my original inspiration for the sweater pattern and construction.
